The Deaf Project
The Deaf Project

The Deaf Project works with any deaf person who lives in the borough of Enfield. This encompasses both Deaf British Sign Language (BSL) users; deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people who do not use BSL, and people who are deaf-blind or have some degree of both hearing and visual impairment.

The Deaf Project offers help with:
  • benefits applications, issues and advice
  • help with access to health and local authority services, utilities, statutory services and other organisations
  • help with overcoming communication barriers wherever possible - for example ensuring BSL interpreters are booked for health appointments
  • informing the local deaf community on current affairs
  • offering opportunity for local deaf people to be involved in local and national consultations
  • deaf awareness where required
  • information on all topics related to deafness

The Deaf Project is also currently supporting the Enfield Deaf Image Group (Endig) to establish and focus on deaf awareness training to statutory services.
