Join our board and make a difference
Thank you for your interest in joining us as a Trustee or Adviser. On this page you can find information about the roles and what’s involved in working with us.
EDA is a local, User-led Organisation, supporting disabled people of any age and with any impairment. We have over 70 staff and volunteers, many of whom are also disabled. EDA promotes the social model of disability, which recognises that disability is caused by the barriers that society presents, rather than an individual’s impairment.
We run projects that support disabled people to maximise their independence, and engage with local decision-making. We are recruiting disabled people to join as Trustees and non-disabled people to be co-opted as Advisers.
Though the roles are unpaid, being a part of a User-led organisation is incredibly rewarding and you will be supported to make a real difference to the lives of disabled people. An induction programme (including training, skills mapping, and business planning) will be tailored to your needs.
This is a great opportunity to put your experience to use and provide leadership within a successful and dynamic organisation. You will have the skills and confidence to work with disabled people, staff, volunteers, other organisations and local and national government bodies. EDA is evolving in line with changes that affect disabled people and the voluntary sector, and we are looking for expertise in any of these key areas:
You may already have experience, or perhaps you are a rising star who would benefit from some support to develop. Either way we want to hear from you.
There is lots of useful information to download, and a very short form to complete.
